NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
