No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
