Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
