No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
