NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
