Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
