NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
