No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
