NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
