Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
