No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
