NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
