When are You Going to Understand that Texas Hold’em Poker is All About Position!

I’ve been betting poker now for about five years, I’ve bet cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so eloquently called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever game we were playing and even though I liked to call it skill, it was quite difficult to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was pleased to accept I was having a long-term run of luck.

Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Hold’em Poker, made famous by a bunch of Texas card players in the 1960’s and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it can be ultra cool with a lot of of the world’s top celebs racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick scan via the TV channels nowadays and it is possible to not escape from poker, and certainly there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single player.

So with all of this new discovered popularity, with so quite a few Television shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are men and women going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I should not get so worked up about this, after all the far more people who struggle with the delicate techniques and strategies required for succeeding consistently at Hold’em, the much better it really is for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can not be troubled to look at all of the accessible information about why placement is so significant, why should we bother? We should just be happy there is an additional fish at the table!

It is true, we need to not reward inactivity with advice and help. Nonetheless, I liken this to a helpful casino game of football. Granted the levels are not so great, but when you notice a player having difficulties, you support them, offer them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a way to like, really like and be grateful for the game as much as you. I am askin all house gamblers to do the same thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite got a handle on the subtleties of betting position. Guide them to grow their respect for the game. Certainly, do not attempt to try this one in your neighborhood betting house, the sharks won’t appreciate you instructing their lunch how to swim!
