Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
