No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
