No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
