NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
