Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
