No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
