Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
