No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
