No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
