Stu is thought to be by many to the greatest No Limit Texas hold’em Poker player ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and started playing poker prior to becomming a teenager.

The young bettor began betting gin and at the age of ten had won his initial gin tournament, while on vacation with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the little poker genius had become a professional and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still appears in New York today.

The fast speaking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic superstars such as Joe Namath and Tiger Woods. Stu had a real ability for betting poker but regardless of his successes in Holdem poker, he preferred betting gin.

Stu once said that there may a few day be a better No Limit Texas hold’em player than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a much better gin player.

In 1980 Stu was put on the world map as one of the very best Hold’em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the very first time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The right after year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by successfully protecting his crown. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his third World poker championship.

Except this poker legend also battled with drug abuse and a year following winning his 3rd title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had died from a cardiac event which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had started with nothing except his ability and expertise for the game which made this poker excellent a millionaire many times over.
